Europeans in Poland and Ukraine
The establishment of direct plane connections from Western Europe to Rzeszów will cause new European visitors to become interested in this region. The low cost airline Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) offer tickets from London to Rzeszów (both single and return) at a price from 30 Euro and to Frankfurt from 25 Euro. There is also the opportunity to get to Warsaw by air, and from there on to numerous European airports by the low cost airlines. So, the concept of a weekend tour is clearly becoming viable. It would enable the tourists to visit both the Polish and Ukrainian parts of Roztocze (e. g. Roztoczański National Park and Zamość in Poland and Lvov in Ukraine). The city of Zamość is 150km from the airport in Jasionka near Rzeszów. The distance from the airport to the border with Ukraine is about 150km to the Hrebenne/Rava Ruska crossing and about 70km to the Korchova/Krakowiec crossing. There is also an opportunity of arranging direct weekend stays in Lvov. An increasing interest by people from Old Europe has been observed following Poland’s entry into the European Union. More and more visitors from Western Europe reach the eastern parts of Poland including Roztocze. Their tours to the Polish side of the Roztocze can be successfully combined with trips to Ukrainian territory, moreover citizens of the European Union are not obliged to have visas any more and this makes it easier for them to visit Ukraine. It should also be mentioned that since the so called “Orange Revolution”, a keen interest has been displayed towards this country.
