On the Polish part of Roztocze there are numerous remains left of the Zamoyski Estate, founded by the Chancellor Jan Zamojski in 1589. These provide some places with a magnetic attraction for tourists. In 1605 the Estate covered an area of 3,7.km2 and included 6 towns and 149 villages. Initially the management headquarters was situated in Zamość, but at the beginning of the XIX century it was moved to Zwierzyniec. The Zamoyski Estate lasted until 1944 when it was nationalized. A special tourist trail has been marked out around the remnants of the Zamoyski Estate, and Polish-English information boards have been placed on former Estate buildings.
